PROJECTS

SSR Q1

Quarter I's sustained silent reading culminating project asked both 9th and 10th grade students to consider the mirrors, windows, & sliding glass doors they experienced in a book of their choice. Students were given the freedom to explore these concepts in whatever medium felt most authentic to them.

The deliverables were quite remarkable.

In Quarter II, students were asked to use this template to create a proposal deck for the film adaptation of a book of their choice.

Deliverables included a mood board, casting roster, soundtrack or costume treatment, as well as a screenplay for a scene from their film.

THE FILM TRAILER

As a transitional project between quarters one and two, the sophomore classes pitched fictional sequels to our quarter one novel, Lord of the Flies. Students then wrote and directed a short trailer for the film adaptation of their group's proposed sequel.

SSR Q3

In Quarter III, sophomores recorded a podcast episode analyzing a book of their choice. They recorded jingles, made intros and outros, designed cover art, and even interviewed a few "authors."

If you listen closely, you might meet some characters.
